How to choose a shower gel or soap, so that they do not harm

What you should know when buying soap or shower gel

The personal care industry is big business. The media literally imposes on us cosmetics, advertising them as a panacea for dry skin, overwork, bad mood, and promise youth and beauty.

We buy soap or shower gel, rather, choosing them for the label and more, perhaps by smell than by composition. And we do not even think that such habitual substances in daily use can gradually lead to the development of many diseases. What kind?

This was told the chief technologist of the production of cosmetics of one of the companies Victoria Zimbalist. She has been working in manufacturing for many years and knows everything about the real composition of the bottle with the liquid skin detergent. It was she who answered Espresso to the most important questions, the answers to which you must know in order to choose the right shower gel or soap.

1. Can the manufacturers write on the packaging that it is an exclusively natural product, natural and without chemical additives?

In most cases, no. Even if there are natural extracts in the gel or soap composition, then in the aggregate this product still cannot be 100% natural. There in any case there will be chemical components. It may be a preservative or a dye. Therefore, do not believe those who claim that shower gel or bulk soap can be completely natural.

2. What components should not be in the composition of the gels and soaps?

There are 6 basic components without which shower gel will not come out: water, salt, which goes as a viscosity regulator, surfactants (surfactants) systems, plowing, preservative and dye.

Solvents such as toluene should not be contained. Do not use SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate). It was created for household chemicals, laundry detergents, but not for skin contact. There are a lot of negative reviews about him. But, in most cases, the human reaction to SLS occurs when it is used in its pure form by the manufacturer. This rarely happens. Basically, it is present in diluted form. And because of its properties to remove fat, it dries the skin a little.

Parabens can also not be part of a quality gel or soap, although they are officially approved for use in these products.

3. How to wash the baby?

Baby can be washed only with solid soap. You should not use liquid soap or shampoo, because there is PAIR that irritates the skin of the child. I advise you to use, for example, the soap of the Slobozhansky plant, which in the Kharkiv region. They cook it from vegetable fats. And they, perhaps, are the only ones who are still engaged in the saponification of these fats. Because today there are already ready bases that manufacturers melt and which we then see on our shelves

4. Does solid soap differ from liquid soap?

It really is different. There is a very limited selection of solid soaps on the market that have a PH with low humidity that everyone aspires to, for example, 5/5. Therefore, solid soap dries the skin more. If you take a shower gel or liquid soap, here manufacturers can make PH 5/5. Given that the product itself will not lose quality.

5. Is it possible to use antibacterial soap daily?

Recently it became known that antibacterial soaps were banned in the United States because they cause more harm than good. It turns out manufacturers could not prove that such a soap is safe and effective.

The chief dermatovenerologist of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Alexander Litus, explained that in humans, both sapo phyto (good bacteria) live on the mucous membranes and on the skin, which help our skin to live and defend against bad bacteria. They maintain a certain acidity, moisture, oily skin.

When we wash with antiseptic soap, we kill not only bad bacteria, but also good ones that live on the skin, on the mucous membrane. In these zones, where there are no native bacteria, those bacteria that cause diseases begin to grow. Here is the most basic evil.

The second evil is triclosan, which is used in antibacterial soap. It is itself toxic and a large allergen. Using it leads to allergic reactions. In the world it is forbidden. We do not have. And the worst thing is that the molecule is like one, but it has a bunch of external receptors, as a result of which the allergy can merge not only on this molecule, but also on other similar ones. In this way, we can get, thanks to one molecule, the allergies of others.

6. Is it possible to use the whole family with one gel or soap?

For the human body there can not be one universal remedy, because different zones have different fat content, humidity, amount of sebaceous and sweat glands. For example, it is impossible to use one gel for a venerable lady, who always gives off a large amount of sebum, and for a little girl who is cold and dry, and for her grandmother, who is already over 70 and has just dry thin skin. Moreover, everyone in the family
